Neuropsychological testing assesses ‘brain functions’ such as memory, learning, attention and cognitive ability but a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment takes into account factors such as depression, anxiety, genetic or familial aspects. It is critical for the clinician to explore the type and extent of difficulties experienced not only currently but also historically. At CCPS the clinical team looks beyond the referral and utilizes the testing and its results to identify the root of the difficulties. Rather than merely stating the findings, CCPS reports are tailored to the specific needs of our patients such as further testing or referrals as needed, accommodations in the school or workplace, medication management, and therapy planning.
