The Psychiatric Fitness-for-Duty Examination (FFDE) evaluates whether an individual can safely and effectively perform their job. The FFDE provides unbiased psychiatric, and, sometimes, neurocognitive, information to give clarity on an individual’s mental health and its impact on the demands of the job.
The goal of the evaluation is to protect the individual, their coworkers, and the community at large. The objectivity of the FFDE means that its conclusions are fair, accurate, and legally defensible. Findings are presented in clear language that’s understandable to non-mental
health professionals.
